Ezra's Blessing
Today we blessed Ezra and he cooperated nicely.
We almost forgot to take pictures, but managed to snap a few after most of the family left.

Ava's Surgery Report
We won't know how successful the surgery was until the cast is off and the pin is out (7-9 weeks). But the good news is that the doctor was able to get the bone pinned on (he thinks). He said he had to try like 8 times because it was so tiny, and he almost gave up. But thankfully he kept at it and we hope for the best results. He took a bone graft from her hip to help fuse the bone back on and grow it together.
First, here is the before photo. You can see that fourth finger is still a big lump.
Ava was a champ through it all. She really liked the blue hospital pajamas and threw a fit when it was time to take them off.
The nurses were all great. They even treated her bunny just like her. They put a diaper on him when she got hers changed, an ID tag on his ankle, and IV wrap on his foot, and a cast on his arm. It was pretty cute.
And they gave her the cutest cast. Pink with purple hearts, but still not enough to make Ava like it.
She was cranky most of the afternoon and evening, which is to be expected after anesthesia. We pretty much let her have whatever she wanted today. Jello cups, goldfish and olives for dinner, chocolate milk, movies. I had to put my foot down when she wanted more more more Tylenol though. It's good that she likes the taste of medicine, but she likes it a little too much! She would drink the whole bottle if she could.
It was a rough day for her (and us), hut hopefully it will be worth it in the long run. Thanks for all your prayers and love and concern, sincerely.

A Wise Old Man
We decided to go with Ezra Paul Cook for the name. Both our dads are named Paul, so pretty much that part was a given. My favorite feature so far is that he has some white patches in his hair. I think he's going to be wise. Hopefully wise, and not just a wise-guy.

Welcome, Baby Boy!
Baby boy Cook is here! 7 lbs 3 oz and 21.5 inches long. The naming process is still under review. Anyone want to vote? Ezra or Maxwell. He voted Ezra with a blink of the eye, and Ava voted Max, because she can say it (Maaa). So we are still tied.
